Job Summary

Oversee and ensure the safety, efficiency, and legal compliance of the shipping company's vessels, making sure ships operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in carrying out navigation audits, vessel takeovers, and bridge team assessments
  • Support vessel teams in aligning voyage planning and execution with company standards and international regulations
  • Provide technical support for ENC and digital publications, including ECDIS troubleshooting and electronic publication issues
  • Prepare vessels for SIRE 2.0 inspections in accordance with current OCIMF guidelines
  • Consolidate and analyze inspection observations; propose preventive actions to address recurring issues
  • Track and follow up on corrective actions from inspections and internal audits
  • Monitor daily vessel activities related to cargo operations, navigation safety, and ISM, ISPS, and MARPOL compliance
  • Communicate regularly with onboard officers and internal departments to ensure safe and efficient vessel performance
  • Coordinate with Technical, HSSE, and crew teams to support optimal vessel performance and safe manning practices
  • Participate in safety-related initiatives, including risk assessments, near-miss reviews, and incident investigations
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audit findings, navigation performance, and voyage issues
  • Prepare concise reports for internal stakeholders, tracking KPIs related to safety, compliance, and navigation standards

Performance Targets

  • Ensure operations in terms of security, safety, and regulatory compliance meet ISO standards
  • Ensure recurring issues are properly prevented and handled
  • Minimal errors in risk assessment and incident investigation
  • Minimal errors in coordinating with related parties and administration for repairs and maintenance
  • Time taken to handle emergency situations
  • Time taken to prepare supporting documents for onboard repair and maintenance
  • Ensure accurate and detailed calculations related to prevention of recurring issues
  • Provide periodic reporting on safety standards assessment and vessel compliance to the Head of Ship Management

Qualifications

  • Min. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture
  • Mandatory BST, SSO, AFF, MFA and other certifications
  • Min. 5 years experience as Marine Superintendent
  • Understanding of international maritime regulations
  • Understanding of International Convention Regulation standards
  • Understanding of Ship Management
  • Understanding of the ISM Code
  • Understanding of the ISPS Code
  • Understanding of vessel operational regulations
  • Proficient in computer (Microsoft Office) and English (mandatory)
